Healthwatch Kent Annual Report, April 2024 - 2025

2 July 2025

Healthwatch Kent is proud to share our annual report for the year 2024-2025.

We have achieved so much! Our staff team and volunteers have worked really hard to ensure your experiences are heard by the right people and changes have been made that reflect your feedback.

If you want to know the details about what we've achieved in the past year, then this is the document for you.

Take a read and let us know what you think

The report this year highlights improvements for people battling substance misuse and need mental health care, stressing the importance of involving people in the development of digital appointment systems and working with partners to ensure young people and children at risk of self-harm get the support they need.

You can also read what people volunteering with us get up to and the difference that makes. We’re already busy working on this years priorities so look out for reports shortly on Veterans and Mental Health Crisis care.

An update from us

Recently, the Government has announced plans to close Healthwatch England and Local Healthwatch as part of a wider effort to streamline patient safety and voice organisations across health and social care.

At Healthwatch Kent we are incredibly proud to have served our community for over a decade. It has been a privilege to champion the voices of people across Kent, ensuring their experiences and insights have helped shape better care. Our dedicated team of volunteers has played a vital role in driving improvements that have impacted thousands of lives.

Healthwatch will continue its important work—listening to the public and patients, and using those insights to influence the future of NHS and social care—until changes to the Health and Social Care Act come into effect.

We recognise the significant transformation underway across the health and care system, and the challenges that come with it. As we look ahead, we remain committed to working with partners to explore new ways of ensuring people’s voices continue to be heard. This commitment is a fitting legacy to our 12 years of independently amplifying the voices of Kent residents.

Thank you!

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to speak to our staff on the street, pick up the phone or drop us an email. All of you have shared your stories of using Kent's health & social care services. You told us what's good and what's not so good and because of that we've been able to use your stories to help improve services for other people.

Please don't stop sharing your stories with us. Without you, we couldn't make any difference!
