EK360's Dartford health inequalities report highlights the health inequalities experienced by 622 people across five priority groups in Dartford: people experiencing homelessness, people from minority ethnic communities, the d/Deaf community, low-income families and people aged over 65. It explores how wider factors such as income, housing, transport, community connections and access to services influence health and wellbeing.
Key findings show that barriers to accessing GP services, public transport, cost of living pressures, digital exclusion and language or communication challenges continue to affect people's ability to stay healthy and access support. Many participants also highlighted concerns around community safety, social isolation and the affordability of activities that support physical and mental wellbeing.
The research found that community groups, parks, leisure facilities and local support organisations play an important role in improving wellbeing, providing opportunities for social connection, physical activity and practical support. Family networks and strong community relationships were also identified as major contributors to good health.
The report recommends improving access to GP services, reducing digital and language barriers, promoting awareness of local support, expanding affordable community activities, improving transport links and strengthening community-led solutions to help tackle health inequalities across Dartford.
